An exciting trip through the labyrinth of emotions.
“FlamenTango” is the new project of the outstanding andalusian flamenco dancer Maria Serrano and her company. Produced for the prestigious Budapest Spring Festival the show was the opening act of the World Summit of Tango in March 2005 in Sevilla. The two dancing- and music styles, famous for their sensuality, power and passion meet and merge during the night to something new and exciting. The Compañia Maria Serrano presents Flamenco and Tango from many different angles: modern and traditional, pure and fusioned. Maria Serrano and her partners Francis Nuñez and José Galan meet the Argentinean tango-couple Romina Godoy and Milton Homann. The dancers encounter, the partners get changed and the dancing-story between Flamenco and Tango, sensuality and power, melancholy and happiness gets started. „FlamenTango” presents Solea por buleria, Tientos, Taranto, Alegria, Farruca, Tango and Argentinean Tango from Gardel, Piazolla and others in never seen and listened versions. The five dancers are accompanied from six flamenco and tango musicians from Andalusia and Argentine: Inmaculada Rivero (voice), Juan Cantarote (voice /perc.), Juan Carlos Berlanga (git), Jose Maria Gago Camareno (piano), Alejandro Benitez (bass), Luis Caruana (bandoneon)
The story: Disillusioned by the situation in their country two Argentinean dancers decide to immigrate to Spain in order to search a new future. To live from the art of dancing has become impossible in Argentine. In Andalusia, the country their families once came from, they start searching their roots and get in touch with flamenco. A fascinating trip through the labyrinth of emotions gets started.
